2010 Fall Garden Tour
Wednesday, September 15
Space is available on vans departing at 1 & 2 pm
Stone Edge Farm is dedicated to organic horticulture, producing award-winning olive oil. Ancient Oak, Bay, and Buckeye trees create shade for outdoor sculpture and intimate gathering spots. The property includes a zen house and lap pool, an observatory with a giant telescope, and an autobarn with a museum-quality classic convertible collection. On view are exquisite examples of cars from the five major classic car manufacturing countries: England, Italy, France, Germany and the US.
Shanel is a 362-acre country estate of oak-covered woodlands, vineyards, and meadows carpeted with wildflowers. The gardens surrounding the house, guest house, pool, and equestrian center were designed by Mai Arbegast. Thousands of trees and shrubs have been planted. In addition, there is a greenhouse for tropical plants, a fruit orchard, raised vegetable beds, and herb gardens. The terrace where refreshments will be served has a panoramic view of the Sonoma Valley.
Quarryhill Botanical Garden is dedicated to the conservation, study, and cultivation of the flora of Asia. Seed that has been collected on yearly expeditions to temperate Asia is planted in our 25-acre woodland garden, sculpted around ponds and waterfalls. Conclude the tour by sharing a glass of wine in the arbor and meandering around the garden to admire the fruit and foliage of early autumn.
