Lectures & Workshops


Lectures and workshops covering a variety of topics are held at Quarryhill.These are given by noted botanists, horticulturalists, garden directors, authors and others. Lectures cover covering diverse subjects such as medicinal plants in traditional Asian medicine, plant exploration in the far east, the Asian heritage of modern roses, conifers around the world, garden design, Zen gardening, and much more. 

Sonoma County Master Gardeners give workshops in the spring and summer at Quarryhill which focus on more local gardening topics such as Drip Irrigation Basics, Gardening for Year-round Color, and Container Gardening.

Upcoming Lectures in 2012

The Sonoma County  Master Gardeners present a 2012 Summer Garden Workshop Series at Quarryhill Botanical Garden.  All workshops begin at 10:30 am and guests are welcome to stroll the garden before or after the event.  No reservations are required.


September 22 Long-lasting Floral Arrangements by Gaius Robinson was the last Master Gardener Lecture at Quarryhill this year. Check back in the spring.

Photobotanic Workshop: Light and Color

November 9 - 9am - 4 pm

Award-winning photographer Saxon Holt brings his PhotoBotanic workshop to Quarryhill. This all-day workshop with critique will begin with visualization exercises in the garden and then concentrate on "Light and Color" which will be in abundant supply on that autumn day. Space is limited, so advance registration is required; $100 members, $125 for non-members.
